Every Smile Has a Story ...
Digital Dentistry
Developments in the Digital World inevitably continue to facilitate the work of dentists in the field of Dentistry.
As the first stage of Digital Dentistry, it is possible to plan the treatments digitally, then to produce this possible result with 3D printers, to inspect our patient and to see the possible result on his face.
The advantages of Digital Dentistry are not only there. When using Digital Measurement Systems while taking measurements, measurement processes with measurement spoons and impression materials separately from our patient become unnecessary. This becomes a very valuable situation, especially in patients with nausea reflexes.
The design of the treatment to be made on the measured measurement is made digitally with almost 100% precision.
After this digital design, we can start production of CAD-CAM systems for production. Again with almost 100% precision ...
SMILE DESIGN
It is the evaluation of the smile style, which includes detailed aesthetic analyzes, where the relationship of a number of aesthetic criteria such as lips, gums and teeth are evaluated separately and with each other.
DENTAL AESTHETICS / Smile Design
It is the evaluation of the smile style, which includes detailed aesthetic analyzes, where the relationship of a number of aesthetic criteria such as lips, gums and teeth are evaluated separately and with each other.
Important factors in smile aesthetics; The harmony of factors such as the lip level, the length of the teeth, the level of the gums, the color of the teeth, the alignment of the lips and teeth when we smile, and the harmony of the laughing line one by one and with each other are of great importance in the analysis of aesthetic smile.
The Importance of Smile?
Laughter is a facial expression that occurs when the facial muscles contract. A warm and beautiful smile means the same in every language. Smile is contagious. Smile is the first key to an individual's sense of self-confidence. A sincere, impressive and sincere smile plays an imposing role in interpersonal relationships in society. When smiling, the brain releases endorphins. It relaxes the individual. However, many people cannot laugh easily and limit themselves in laughing.
Teeth and gums come to the fore with laughter. The most important reason why individuals avoid laughing is oral and dental health problems and color, shape and closing disorders in the teeth.
Smile Design-Smile Design
Smile design is designed for the individual considering how the individual wants to see himself when he looks in the mirror or laughs, and the dentist, practicing medicine, aesthetics and art together, taking into account the age, face shape, skin color, lips, teeth, gums and surrounding tissues. to design and create a special ideal smile.
Personalized Smile Design
Smile design is the specialty of aesthetic dentistry that must be applied individually. For a more beautiful smile, there are many factors that affect the smile design, which is frequently preferred by men as well as women today. A permanent and natural smile is aimed in the design, which is planned by considering the age, face shape, socio-economic status and even the profession of the person as well as the gender.
How Do Personal Traits Affect Smile Design?
Gender: The lateral incisors next to the front two teeth are shaped according to the gender of the person. While these teeth are more rounded and inside in women, they are more angular and prominent in men.
Age: The size, shape and whiteness of the teeth are directly related to age. Especially the structure of the front two teeth is in a structure that shows the age.
Skin Color: Natural teeth and gum color are personal and compatible with skin color. It is particularly important to choose the appropriate tooth shade in a natural design.
Profession: Employees in positions such as sales representatives and public relations may prefer to have a more prominent smile since they are in constant dialogue.
Face Shape: It is very important that the teeth are in harmony with the facial features. It would not be appropriate to make round teeth for someone with angular facial features. Features such as lip thickness, distance between two lips are effective in determining the smile design.
As such factors are effective in creating the smile design, it is also important how the person wants to look. While many patients want to have a natural smile, some patients may want to attract attention on their faces, especially their teeth. Of course, designing teeth that integrate with the person, make him happy and make him smile with confidence will mean maximum benefit from the application.
Smile Design Methods
Mock-up Study: It is the method that allows the patient to see how the result will be during the design phase. The wax teeth created on the plaster prepared with the measurements taken are attached to the patient's mouth to see how the planned design will be. Necessary changes can be made on these teeth, teeth can remain in the patient's mouth for 1-2 days.
Digital Design with Photography: In the clinic, the photograph of the patient is taken and the teeth are shaped through the photograph. In the modeling, all desired changes are made in the teeth and they are made ready for design.
In the placement of the teeth, it is ensured that the teeth are in accordance with the symmetry in a vertical line from the forehead, nose tip and chin level in the middle of the face. In the horizontal plane, the parallelism of the incisors with the pupils is important.
It is necessary to pay attention to the order of the teeth with a certain reduction from front to back. The "golden ratio" that we encounter everywhere in nature is also valid in smile design.
The color of the teeth is of great importance in design. The color is chosen depending on the characteristics of the person and a natural appearance is provided with color changes and more transparent structure depending on the natural characteristics of the tooth.
Gums that appear too much when smiling, asymmetrical or with color differences and darkening also affect the design. In such problems, a treatment for the gums may be required.
The only purpose of all these applications and meticulous work is to successfully renew the smile, which affects the psychology as well as the image of the person.
CAD CAM TECHNOLOGY AND SMILE DESIGN
One of the most important reasons for the expansion and widespread use of aesthetic dentistry applications is the development of technology and materials used in dentistry.
In particular, we can say that CAD CAM technology has made a breakthrough in dentistry in general and aesthetic dentistry in particular. Thanks to CAD CAM (Computer-aided design-computer-aided production) technology, which we can call the computer-aided bur technology, the intraoral measurement of the patient can be taken with a micron level error with a camera connected to the computer without the need to take any measurements from the individual with plaster. These images taken by a special camera can be combined by the computer and three-dimensional images of the upper and lower jaws can be obtained by means of special programs suitable for the purpose. After obtaining a three-dimensional view, the dentist applies the rules of aesthetic dentistry and the shapes of the teeth are pre-screened on the computer. Through these images, Necessary changes can be made on the teeth until the desired aesthetic results are obtained. The smile line can be obtained in accordance with the intended smile design, horizontal and vertical alignment can be made, the dimensions of the teeth, the curves can be changed, the proportions of the teeth can be adjusted and the embraşur can be obtained in the desired size.
Smile Design with Cad Cam System
In addition, the form given to the teeth can be combined with the face photograph of the individual, and the harmony of the restoration with the overall facial image can be checked. If necessary, new corrections are made in the shape of the tooth and the final shape is given to the tooth.
Smile Design, Face Form Harmony
Then, the virtual image formed in the final shape is transferred from the computer running the micro mills to the assisted laser controlled micro lathe with a given command. The micro lathe creates teeth by engraving zirconium blocks that are selected for aesthetic purpose or porcelain blocks produced for special purposes. Since the necessity of using metal support is eliminated; Both a healthier and closest image to a natural tooth is obtained. In addition, when zirconium or porcelain blocks produced for special purposes are processed with CAD CAM, perfect adaptation is obtained because the sensitivity of the tooth under it is very high.
Smile Design with Cad Cam System
In metal-ceramic technique, the adaptation sensitivity is 100-150 microns in the best casting method and even in the most ideal conditions, while the adaptation sensitivity in zirconium and porcelain blocks produced with CAD-CAM is 10-15 microns, following the measurement taken with the help of a computer-aided camera. This sensitivity provides an aesthetic appearance as it provides the maximal fit of the prosthetic tooth and prevents bacteria from entering.
Another important advantage of the CAD CAM system is that smile design and application processes can be completed in one session.
